Local Improvement Districts

A Local Improvement District (LID) is a designated area where local government or authorities fund specific improvements, such as road repairs, sidewalks, or utilities, by assessing property owners within that district. Instead of covering costs through general taxes, the expenses are shared among those who benefit most. Property owners typically pay a special fee or assessment over time. LIDs ensure that the cost of improvements is fairly distributed to those directly affected, allowing communities to undertake targeted infrastructure upgrades without imposing widespread tax increases.
