Local Emergency Planning Committees (LEPC)

Local Emergency Planning Committees (LEPCs) are community-based groups responsible for preparing for hazardous material emergencies. Comprising local officials, industry representatives, and community members, they develop plans to respond effectively to accidental releases of dangerous chemicals. LEPCs coordinate information, conduct drills, and ensure residents are informed about potential hazards. Their goal is to protect public safety, the environment, and property by fostering collaboration and preparedness within the community for chemical emergencies.
