Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC)

A Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) is a community-based group responsible for preparing for and responding to local industrial accidents or hazardous material incidents. Comprising local government officials, emergency responders, industry representatives, and the public, the LEPC analyzes potential risks, develops emergency plans, and ensures community awareness and preparedness. Their goal is to protect residents and the environment by coordinating efforts, sharing information, and conducting drills to respond effectively to emergencies involving hazardous materials.
