Local Defence Volunteers
Local Defence Volunteers, commonly known as LDV, are civilians who volunteer to assist their communities in times of emergency or conflict. They are not regular soldiers but are trained to support military efforts, maintain local security, and provide aid during crises. Formed to supplement official defense forces, LDVs help enhance national security, protect local areas, and promote community resilience. Their role is voluntary, emphasizing community participation in national defense without replacing professional armed forces.
