Lobectomy
A lobectomy is a surgical procedure that involves removing one of the five lobes of the lung. It is typically performed to treat conditions like lung cancer, where removing the affected tissue can help eliminate or reduce the disease. The surgery is done under general anesthesia, and the surgeon makes an incision in the chest to access the lung. After removing the diseased lobe, the remaining healthy lung tissue continues to function normally. Lobectomy is considered a standard and effective treatment option for certain lung conditions, aiming to improve health outcomes and quality of life.
