LNGS (Laboratorio Nazionale del Gran Sasso)
LNGS (Laboratorio Nazionale del Gran Sasso) is Italy’s premier underground research facility located beneath the Gran Sasso mountain. It provides a shielded environment for scientists studying fundamental questions in physics, such as neutrino behavior and dark matter. By being deep underground, LNGS reduces interference from cosmic rays and other background noise, enabling precise experiments. It hosts large-scale detectors and collaborates internationally to explore some of the universe’s most elusive particles and phenomena, advancing our understanding of the universe’s fundamental properties and origins.
