Liver resection
Liver resection is a surgical procedure where a portion of the liver is carefully removed. It's often done to eliminate cancerous tumors, benign growths, or damaged tissue, allowing the healthy liver to function better. Because the liver can regenerate itself, removing part of it usually doesn't impair overall liver function. The surgery involves accessing the liver through an incision in the abdomen, dividing blood vessels and bile ducts as needed, and carefully removing the targeted section. Liver resection is a common treatment option for liver cancer and certain benign conditions, performed by specialized surgeons with expertise in liver surgery.
