Little Boy (bomb)
Little Boy was the first atomic bomb used in warfare, dropped by the United States on the Japanese city of Hiroshima on August 6, 1945. It was a gun-type fission weapon that used highly enriched uranium-235 to create a rapid, explosive chain reaction. When detonated, it released an immense amount of energy in the form of a blast, heat, and radiation, causing widespread destruction and loss of life. Little Boy's use marked the first time nuclear weapons were deployed in war, significantly influencing global politics and the development of nuclear technology.
