LISA (Laser Interferometer Space Antenna)
LISA (Laser Interferometer Space Antenna) is a planned space mission designed to detect gravitational waves—ripples in spacetime caused by massive cosmic events like merging black holes or neutron stars. It consists of three spacecraft forming a giant triangle millions of kilometers apart, using laser beams to measure tiny changes in their distances caused by passing gravitational waves. By observing these minuscule distortions, LISA will help scientists study black holes, neutron stars, and the early universe, expanding our understanding of fundamental physics and the universe’s history.
