Liquid Penetrant Testing

Liquid Penetrant Testing (LPT) is a nondestructive inspection method used to detect surface defects like cracks or porosity in materials. It involves applying a specially formulated dye or fluorescent liquid to the surface, which seeps into any flaws. After excess liquid is removed, a developer is applied to draw out the penetrant from defects, making them visible under normal or UV light. This technique allows inspectors to identify potential weak points without damaging the object, ensuring safety and integrity in manufacturing and maintenance processes.
