Lipodystrophy

Lipodystrophy is a medical condition where the body’s fat tissue is abnormally lost or redistributed. This can cause uneven fat distribution—either too much fat in some areas or a lack of fat in others—affecting appearance and possibly leading to metabolic issues like insulin resistance or diabetes. It may occur naturally, due to genetic factors, or as a side effect of certain medications, especially HIV treatments. Treatment varies depending on the type and severity and can include managing associated health risks or restoring fat tissue through medical interventions.
