Linnaean Classification
Linnaean classification is a system used to organize and categorize living things, developed by Carolus Linnaeus. It groups organisms based on shared characteristics into hierarchical levels: kingdom, phylum, class, order, family, genus, and species. For example, humans belong to the kingdom Animalia, phylum Chordata, class Mammalia, order Primates, family Hominidae, genus Homo, and species sapiens. This structure helps scientists identify, study, and communicate about different organisms efficiently. Essentially, it creates a standardized "family tree" that reflects evolutionary relationships while providing a clear naming system.
