Linearbandkeramik
Linearbandkeramik (LBK) refers to an early Neolithic culture in Central Europe around 5500-4500 BCE, known for its distinctive pottery decorated with linear patterns. This culture marks the spread of farming, domesticated animals, and new pottery techniques into Europe, replacing earlier hunter-gatherer societies. LBK communities were primarily village-based, cultivating crops like wheat and barley, and raising livestock. Their settlements often featured longhouses and organized layouts. The LBK represents one of the first widespread farming cultures in Europe, playing a crucial role in transforming prehistoric societies from hunting and gathering to settled agricultural life.
