
Linear and Non-Linear DACs
Linear and non-linear digital-to-analog converters (DACs) are devices that convert digital signals into analog signals. A linear DAC produces an output that increases proportionally with each digital input step, ensuring accurate reproduction of signals like audio or measurements. In contrast, a non-linear DAC's output does not change consistently with input changes, which can cause distortions or inaccuracies. While linear DACs are preferred for precise applications, non-linear DACs might be used in specific scenarios where speed or cost savings are prioritized over perfect accuracy.
