Limited Atonement

Limited Atonement is a theological belief that Jesus Christ’s death on the cross was specifically intended to save only those individuals whom God has chosen or elected. It asserts that Christ's sacrifice effectively and surely atones for the sins of these selected individuals, ensuring their salvation. This viewpoint emphasizes the intentional and purposeful nature of Jesus’ death, contrasting with the idea that it was meant for everyone. It doesn’t mean Christ’s sacrifice wasn’t sufficient for all, but that it was effectively meant and applied only to the elect, those whom God has predestined for salvation.
