Limerick Soviet

The Limerick Soviet was a self-managed workers' council that briefly governed Limerick, Ireland, in April 1919 during a period of revolutionary activity. Composed mainly of industrial workers, it aimed to control local industries and address workers' demands, challenging traditional authority structures. This experiment reflected the broader influence of workers' councils emerging across Europe after the Russian Revolution, advocating for worker control and socialist ideas. However, the Limerick Soviet lasted only a few days before authorities reasserted control, making it a notable, though short-lived, example of grassroots worker-led governance during that era.
