Lilly Ledbetter (Activist)
Lilly Ledbetter is an American activist known for her work in advocating for equal pay for women. After discovering that she was paid significantly less than her male colleagues for the same work, she fought for justice, leading to a landmark case that reached the U.S. Supreme Court. Although the Court ruled against her due to time limits on filing pay discrimination claims, her efforts raised awareness about wage inequality. In 2009, the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act was signed into law, making it easier for workers to challenge unequal pay and strengthening protections against wage discrimination.
