Lighthouse of Alexandria (Pharos of Alexandria)

The Lighthouse of Alexandria, also known as the Pharos of Alexandria, was an ancient marvel built around 280 BCE to guide sailors safely into Egypt's harbor. It stood on the small island of Pharos near Alexandria and was one of the tallest man-made structures of its time, estimated to be about 100 meters (330 feet) high. Its brilliant fire at night served as a glowing beacon, helping ships navigate safely. The lighthouse combined advanced engineering and artistry, symbolizing Alexandria's importance as a center of trade and learning. It was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World until it was destroyed by earthquakes.
