Light Sail

Light Sail is a type of spacecraft propulsion that uses the pressure of sunlight to move. It employs large, thin, reflective sails that catch photons—tiny particles of light—from the Sun. Although these photons have no mass, they carry momentum, and when they bounce off the sail, they transfer some of that momentum, pushing the spacecraft forward. This method allows for continuous acceleration without fuel, making it efficient for long-distance space travel. Light Sail technology is being explored for missions to distant planets and beyond, offering a potentially cost-effective way to explore the solar system and beyond.
