Lifton's Eight Criteria
Lifton's Eight Criteria describe the psychological techniques used in mind control and thought reform. They include creating a sense of dependence on the group, breaking down individual identity, manipulating emotions like fear and guilt, controlling thoughts through repetitive beliefs, discouraging critical thinking, fostering a us-versus-them mentality, exploiting vulnerabilities, and imposing strict authority. These methods make individuals more receptive to the group's influence, often leading to a loss of personal autonomy and free will, and aligning their beliefs and behaviors with the group's agenda.
