Licensing in Music
Licensing in music is the legal process that allows someone to use a song or musical work legally. When a person or business wants to play, record, or share music publicly, they must obtain permission—called a license—from the rights holder, such as the songwriter, artist, or music publisher. This license ensures that the creator is compensated for their work. Licensing helps protect intellectual property rights and maintains fair payment for creators, enabling them to earn income from their music while allowing others to use it legally.
