Libertarianism: A Primer

Libertarianism is a political philosophy emphasizing individual freedom, personal responsibility, and minimal government intervention. Libertarians believe people should have the maximum liberty to make their own choices, both economically and socially, as long as they do not infringe on others’ rights. They advocate for free markets, voluntary agreements, and limited government roles mainly in protecting individual rights, national defense, and law enforcement. The core idea is that a free society fosters innovation, prosperity, and personal autonomy, and that government should interfere as little as possible in people's lives.
