Libel

Libel is a type of defamation that occurs when someone makes a false statement about another person or entity in a written or published form, such as in newspapers, books, or online posts. This false statement damages the person's reputation or causes harm to their standing in the community. To qualify as libel, the statement must be proven to be false, made intentionally or negligently, and result in injury. It is different from slander, which involves spoken false statements. Legal action can be taken if someone believes they've been libeled and their reputation has been unfairly harmed.
