LIA
LIA, or Laser Interstitial Thermal Therapy, is a minimally invasive medical procedure that uses a small laser probe to precisely target and destroy abnormal tissue, such as tumors, with heat. The process involves inserting the laser fiber through a tiny incision guided by imaging techniques like MRI or CT scans. Once in place, the laser produces controlled heat to ablate the diseased tissue while sparing surrounding healthy tissue. LIA is often used for conditions like brain tumors or epilepsy, offering a less invasive alternative to open surgery with quicker recovery times.
