LGBTIQ+

LGBTIQ+ is an acronym that stands for a diverse range of sexual orientations and gender identities. It includes Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, Queer, and other non-heteronormative identities. Each term describes different experiences: for example, Lesbian refers to women attracted to women, Gay generally to men attracted to men, Bisexual to attraction to more than one gender, Transgender to those whose gender identity differs from their sex assigned at birth, Intersex to people born with physical sex characteristics that don’t fit typical definitions of male or female, and Queer as an inclusive, reclaimed term for those who don’t identify as heterosexual or cisgender. The '+' recognizes additional identities beyond these.
