LFG (Landfill Gas)

Landfill Gas (LFG) is a mixture of gases produced when organic waste decomposes in a landfill site. As waste breaks down without enough oxygen, it releases primarily methane and carbon dioxide, along with small amounts of other gases. Since methane is flammable and contributes to climate change, capturing LFG allows it to be used as a renewable energy source for electricity or heat, reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
