Lex ferenda

"Lex ferenda" is a Latin term meaning "the law to be made" or "future law." It refers to rules or legal standards that are proposed or wished for but have not yet been officially adopted or enacted. Think of it as laws that lawyers, scholars, or lawmakers believe should be established or improved in the future, guiding the development of legal systems. Unlike current laws ("lex lata"), lex ferenda focuses on the direction legal rules should take, often influencing debates and legislative efforts to shape future legal frameworks.
