Lewis & Clark Expedition

The Lewis and Clark Expedition (1804-1806) was a scientific and exploratory journey commissioned by President Thomas Jefferson to map and understand the western part of North America. Led by Meriwether Lewis and William Clark, the team traveled from Missouri to the Pacific Coast, navigating unknown territories, documenting plant and animal species, and establishing American claims to the region. The expedition provided valuable geographic, scientific, and cultural information, greatly expanding the United States' knowledge of the continent’s interior and fostering future exploration and settlement.
