Lewis and Clark Expedition (people often confuse due to the name)

The Lewis and Clark Expedition (1804-1806) was a historic journey led by Meriwether Lewis and William Clark to explore the newly acquired Louisiana Territory and find a route to the Pacific Ocean. Sponsored by the U.S. government, their goal was to map uncharted lands, study plants and animals, and establish American presence in the west. While often called “the expedition,” it's specifically about their westward exploration across North America. The journey involved a diverse team, including Sacagawea, and significantly expanded the understanding of the western continent, paving the way for westward expansion.
