Levites
Levites are members of the Hebrew tribe of Levi, historically designated as religious assistants and caretakers in ancient Israel. They served special roles in the Temple, such as singing, playing instruments, and assisting priests (Kohanim) in rituals. Unlike other tribes, Levites were set apart for religious service and were supported by tithes from the community. Today, in Jewish tradition, Levites still hold certain ceremonial roles during synagogue services, symbolizing their historical responsibilities as helpers and keepers of spiritual practices within the community.
