leukemias
Leukemia is a cancer of the blood where abnormal white blood cells are produced in excess. These abnormal cells don’t work properly and can crowd out healthy blood cells, leading to issues like fatigue, infections, and easy bleeding. Leukemia can develop quickly (acute) or slowly (chronic), and it affects different types of white blood cells depending on the type. It often results from genetic mutations in blood cell precursors. Treatment options include chemotherapy, radiation, targeted therapy, and sometimes stem cell transplants, aiming to eliminate leukemia cells and restore normal blood cell production.
