Leuctra was an ancient battlefield in Greece where, in 371 BC, the Thebans, led by Epaminondas, achieved a significant victory over the Spartans. This battle marked a turning point in Greek history, ending Sparta's dominance and elevating Theban power. Thebes used innovative tactics, including a strong right wing and specialized formations, which outflanked and overwhelmed the Spartan forces. The victory weakened Sparta’s influence in Greece and demonstrated the effectiveness of new military strategies, shaping the balance of power among city-states for years to come.
