Leucippus

Leucippus was an ancient Greek philosopher from around the 5th century BCE, known for founding the early theory of atomism. He proposed that everything in the universe is made up of tiny, indivisible particles called atoms, which move through the void (empty space). These atoms come in different shapes and sizes, and their combinations and movements create all matter and change. Leucippus’ ideas laid the groundwork for later scientific thinking about the nature of matter, influencing philosophers like Democritus and shaping the development of modern atomic theory.
