Lesser Armenia

Lesser Armenia, also known as the Armenian Highlands, refers to the historical region in eastern Anatolia (modern-day Turkey) that was home to the ancient Armenian kingdoms. It is distinguished from Greater Armenia, which covered a larger area. Lesser Armenia was a significant cultural and political center for Armenians, especially during the medieval period, and included important cities like Ani. Over time, much of Lesser Armenia's territory was absorbed into the Ottoman Empire, and today, the region's historical sites and heritage remain an important part of Armenian history and identity.
