The Lesh Model is a framework used to understand how students develop mathematical understanding over time. It describes four stages: constructing new knowledge through experience, applying that knowledge in different contexts, refining and reorganizing understanding, and integrating new ideas to build a deeper, more flexible grasp of concepts. This model emphasizes that learning is a dynamic process, involving movement between these stages rather than a straight line.
