Les Acadiens

Les Acadiens are descendants of French colonists who settled in the Maritime provinces of Canada, mainly in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island, starting in the 17th century. Known for their distinct language (a form of French called Acadian French), rich cultural traditions, music, and cuisine, they have maintained a strong regional identity despite historical challenges like the Great Expulsion (Le Grand Dérangement) in the 18th century, when many were forcibly removed by the British. Today, they celebrate their heritage through festivals, music, and community events, preserving a unique Acadian culture within Canada.
