Lentiviral Vector

A Lentiviral vector is a specially engineered tool derived from viruses that can deliver genetic material into human cells. Since lentiviruses, like HIV, naturally integrate their genetic content into host DNA, scientists modify these viruses to remove harmful components, creating safe vectors. These vectors can efficiently introduce new genes into dividing and non-dividing cells, which is useful in gene therapy to treat genetic disorders, cancers, or for research purposes. Essentially, they act as biological delivery vehicles, carrying desired genetic instructions into cells to modify or correct their function.
