Lens Opacities

Lens opacities, commonly known as cataracts, occur when the clear natural lens in the eye becomes cloudy or clouded over time. This clouding interferes with the passage of light through the lens, leading to blurred vision, difficulty seeing at night, or sensitivity to glare. Cataracts often develop gradually as part of the aging process but can also result from injury, certain medications, or other health conditions. While early stages may not significantly impact vision, advanced opacities can be corrected with surgery, where the cloudy lens is replaced with a clear artificial one.
