Lemaître (Georges Lemaître)

Georges Lemaître was a Belgian priest and scientist who proposed that the universe is expanding, originating from a single, extremely dense point—a concept now called the Big Bang. In 1927, he developed the idea that the universe once started from a "primeval atom," which has been foundational to modern cosmology. His work provided a theoretical basis for the observed redshift of galaxies, supporting the idea that the universe is continually stretching.
