Lekythos
A lekythos is a type of ancient Greek pottery used mainly for storing and pouring oils, especially in funerary practices. Typically slender with a narrow neck and small opening, it often featured detailed painted scenes or designs. Most lekythoi were made from white or light-colored clay, emphasizing the painted decorations. They served both practical purposes in daily life and ceremonial functions related to rituals and honoring the dead, reflecting Greek beliefs about the afterlife and the importance of honoring ancestors.
