legislative sessions

Legislative sessions are designated periods during which a government’s law-making body, such as a state legislature or federal Congress, actively conducts its business—debating, proposing, and passing laws. These sessions can be annual, biennial, or at other intervals, depending on the jurisdiction. Sessions typically start with organized procedures, such as opening speeches or sessions, and end when the legislative body adjourns. During this time, lawmakers focus on addressing issues, passing legislation, and overseeing government functions. Once the session concludes, the legislature pauses legislative activity until the next scheduled session.
