Legatee

A legatee is a person or entity designated in a will to receive a specific gift or inheritance, such as money, property, or other assets. When someone creates a will, they identify legatees to ensure their possessions are distributed according to their wishes after their death. Legatees differ from heirs, who are automatically entitled to a portion of the estate under law; legatees only receive what is explicitly bequeathed to them in the will. Essentially, a legatee is a named recipient of a specific part of a person's estate as instructed by the testator.
