Legal Permanent Residence

Legal Permanent Residence (LPR), often called a green card, grants a non-citizen the right to live and work permanently in the United States. It bestows many rights similar to those of U.S. citizens, such as employment and travel flexibility, but doesn’t include voting. LPR status is usually granted through family, employment, or refugee programs, and requires maintenance of residency and compliance with the law. It’s an important legal status that can eventually lead to U.S. citizenship, provided certain conditions are met.
