Legal emancipation

Legal emancipation is a process through which a minor, usually someone under 18 years old, gains legal independence from their parents or guardians. This means the minor can make their own decisions regarding education, healthcare, and living arrangements, much like an adult. Emancipation can occur through court proceedings or specific situations, such as military service or marriage. It typically requires the minor to demonstrate the ability to support themselves and manage their affairs. Once emancipated, the minor is responsible for their own decisions and can enter into contracts, but they may lose some parental support.
