Leeb hardness tester
A Leeb hardness tester is a portable device used to measure the hardness of metals quickly and accurately. It works by gently striking the metal surface with a small, calibrated metal indenter and measuring the rebound velocity of the impact. The higher the rebound, the harder the material. This value is then converted into a hardness number, known as the Leeb hardness (and related to other scales like HRC). It’s widely used in industries for non-destructive testing, enabling engineers to assess material properties on-site without damaging the part.
