Harper Lee was an American author best known for her novel "To Kill a Mockingbird," published in 1960. The book, set in the racially charged American South during the 1930s, focuses on themes of justice, morality, and compassion through the eyes of a young girl named Scout Finch. It received the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1961 and remains a classic of American literature, praised for its exploration of racial inequality. Lee published a second novel, "Go Set a Watchman," in 2015, which is a sequel and was originally written before "To Kill a Mockingbird."
