Ledo Road
The Ledo Road, originally constructed during World War II, is a strategic supply route that connected India with China. Built by the Allies to support Chinese forces against Japanese invasion, it extends approximately 1,100 miles from Ledo in India to Kunming in China. The road was crucial for transporting supplies, equipment, and troops, overcoming challenging terrains including mountains and jungles. Although its significance waned after the war, it remains a key symbol of wartime cooperation and logistics between nations and has facilitated trade and travel in the region since its establishment.
