Lebanon War
The Lebanon War (2006) was a conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, a Lebanese militant group. It started when Hezbollah launched a cross-border attack, capturing two Israeli soldiers. Israel responded with a large military offensive aimed at weakening Hezbollah’s capabilities. The fighting caused extensive destruction in Lebanon, killed hundreds of civilians, and displaced many. The war lasted 34 days and ended with a UN-brokered ceasefire. It highlighted the complex tensions in Lebanon, involving regional politics, armed groups, and sovereignty issues, and underscored the ongoing challenges of peace and stability in the region.
