League of Prizren

The League of Prizren was an Albanian political organization founded in 1878 to defend Albanian territories and promote Albanian national identity during the decline of the Ottoman Empire. It aimed to oppose partition plans by neighboring states and seek autonomy or unification of Albanian-populated regions. The league organized resistance, fostered cultural advancement, and sought political unity among Albanians. Although it faced suppression, it played a key role in inspiring Albanian nationalism and laid groundwork for later efforts toward independence, which was achieved in 1912.
