Lead Hazard Reduction (theory)
Lead hazard reduction involves identifying and minimizing sources of lead in environments where people live, work, or play. Lead, a toxic metal, was historically common in paint, plumbing, and soil, posing health risks especially to children’s development. The process includes testing for lead presence, removing or sealing contaminated materials, and improving regulations to prevent future exposure. The goal is to create safer environments by reducing or eliminating lead hazards, thereby protecting public health from the harmful effects of lead poisoning.
